Here it is. Feel free to download the image a print it, give it to friends, use it as a placemat at special dining events… whatever.
So here is an explanation of what this chart shows.
We grabbed both the Idaho Freedom Foundation’s Freedom and Spending index scores and on top of that we went to the Idaho Republican Party website to get their legislator scores for platform conformance.
Then we noted who was a chair of a committee, speaker of the house, or other positions that denote powerful influence over the legislature. We call it the “power rating”, and we use that to help you see who the more important members are that have a huge influence over what laws can get past.
Here are some conclulsions we can draw from this data:
- Democrats all vote democrat – there are no DINOs (Democrats In Name Only).
- Close to half of the republicans don’t vote republican or with the republican platform.
- Currently, republicans hold the power seats but as older, more powerful republicans leave the legislature, it can be seen that the left can take over the legislature quickly.
We hope this information becomes an effective force to help educate true conservative Idaho voters that just voting R is no longer sufficient to get what you want from your representative.
Sandy,
This new article helps more than any explanation you tried to give thus far – Thank You!
I was a little disappointed you had so little time at the meeting yesterday to explain more……like if you had had about half the time that Joe used up, bless him.
I’m STARTING to understand.
Carol
I am trying to understand the methodology used to come up with the power rating metric. For example, 13-term Mike Moyle has a power rating of 61 while 1-term (???) Dan Foreman has a power rating of 100. How did you arrive at each of those power ratings.
I thought Dan Foreman has been in office for more than 1 term. Tammy Nichols is also listed as being in office for 1 term. Is this because they changed from the House to the Senate? Thanks.
I believe Glenneda “Suiderveld” should be spelled with a “Z” (Zuiderveld).
Thanks for putting this together.
Why District 7 (Idaho County, in particular) insists on re-electing Mr. Shepherd – a chronic “C” student – to represent us escapes me.
